Brisbane’s Eat Street Markets

We’ve been to a LOT of markets around the world. Literally hundreds ! But I have to say we’ve visited the new, improved Eat Street Markets in Brisbane twice in the past two weeks and hand on heart I can state it is up there with some of the best in the world. So proud !

What it is ?

Over 180 shipping containers have been converted into food stalls, shops, bars and activities right on the Brisbane River at Hamilton.

There is food from all over the world – Asian, South American, European and you can indulge in everything from Greek Loukamades to Brazilian BBQ. There are also some lovely shops and salons to poke around in and a heap of activities for kids as well as adults, including games, jumping castles, henna tattoos and candle making.

There are 2 permanent stages with great bands and singers playing and a number of private functions rooms. You can sit in one of the new river side lounges, out in the beer gardens, lounge by the kids play area in bean bags and easy chairs or in any of the many seating and meeting spots scattered throughout the huge space.

If you’ve visited before and thought if was too busy and too crowded you can relax as the new market has twice the space with only a few extra vendors. There is plenty of parking and a Citycat stop right next door. We’ve visited both times on a Sunday afternoon and there were no queues and plenty of seating with enough people to keep it feeling fun and interesting.
You can hire some of the containers for private functions ( on the river!) for only $75.A great spot for birthday drinks or a girls catch up.
